History
Henry Fields, born in South Carolina in 1806, came to Texas by early 1836 and fought at the Battle of San Jacinto as a member of Captain Robert J. Calder's Brazoria company. He was issued a bounty certificate for 960 acres in recognition of his military service. Fields died in 1890 and is buried in the old Magnolia cemetery near the Trinity River crossing in southwestern Anderson County, about twelve miles from Palestine.
