History
William Kimbro, born in Bedford County, Tennessee, came to Texas in 1831 and settled in David G. Burnet's colony. In September 1835 he raised a company of volunteer infantry and served as its captain, commanding the Eighth Company of Colonel Sidney Sherman's Second Texas Regiment at San Jacinto, for which he received a land grant. He moved to Anderson County in 1853 and died there in 1856, and the Texas Centennial Commission marked his grave at Palestine in 1936.
