History
Built of prime local lumber around 1905, the Gibbs-Flournoy House was the home of W.M. Gibbs, manager of the sawmill in the company town of Manning, and was reputedly the only painted house in town. When fire destroyed the mill in January 1935 and the company dismantled Manning's houses, the Gibbs house was spared and today is the era's only intact structure. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988, it was later converted into the Mansion at Sawmill Lake bed-and-breakfast.
