History
The Roesler House stands west of Nelsonville on TX 159 in Austin County. German immigrant August Roesler, who came to Texas in the 1850s, built a board-and-batten farmhouse here after his first home on the property burned in 1892, constructing it with neighbors' help as a replica of the earlier dwelling. It was named a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1977 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
