History
Hartsville Cemetery near Wallis in Austin County dates to 1903, when P. L. Habermacher, Miles J. Allen, and J. S. Dabney bought land for a school, church, and cemetery. The Hartsville school operated until 1939 and the Church of Christ until 1949, after which the congregation's building was moved to Sealy, where it remains in use. The Hartsville Cemetery Association was formed in 2001, and the site was registered as a Historic Texas Cemetery in 2006.
