History

Summers' Mill stood on Salado Creek southeast of Belton, where a three-story limestone grist mill was completed in 1866 by John Myers. About 1880 D. C. Summers built a mill at the site, and a post office named Summer's Mills opened in 1881. The small milling community thrived into the early 20th century before declining.
