History
The Old Lone Star Brewery is a castle-like complex at 200 West Jones Avenue in downtown San Antonio, built for the Lone Star Brewing Company with funding from local businessmen John H. Kampmann and Edward Hoppe together with St. Louis brewer Adolphus Busch. Its turreted, battlemented design has been likened to a Bavarian castle. Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972, with a boundary increase in 1979 that added several outbuildings, the complex now houses the San Antonio Museum of Art.
