History
Known affectionately as the "Taj Mahal," the Administration Building (Building 100) at Randolph Field was completed in October 1931 at a cost of about $252,000 and cleverly enclosed the base's 170-foot water tank within its tower. Student flyers nicknamed it for its exotic silhouette, and it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987, later contributing to the Randolph Field Historic District declared a National Historic Landmark in 2001.
