History

The Stinson Chapter of the Texas Air Museum, founded in 1999, sits at historic Stinson Field, one of the oldest airports in the United States, where the pioneering Stinson aviation family opened a flying school in 1915. The all-volunteer nonprofit preserves aircraft and artifacts spanning early aviation through the World War eras and highlights San Antonio's central role in aviation history. Nearby, aviator Katherine Stinson became one of the first American women to earn a pilot's license and to perform night flights and loops.
