Christ Mission College was founded in 1926 by the Rev. H. C. Ball, a leader of Hispanic Assemblies of God churches in the United States, and his wife, Sunshine, who began training ministers in an annex of San Antonio's Templo Cristiano as the Latin American Bible Institute. The school moved to the nearby community of Saspamco in 1935 and then to El Paso in 1945 before returning to San Antonio in 1981, where it settled on its current campus of roughly 82 acres off FM 1560. Known for most of its history as LABI, it emphasized bilingual ministry training and Hispanic church leadership, and it took the name Christ Mission College in 2017 while pursuing accreditation with the Association for Biblical Higher Education, which now accredits it. Today the small Assemblies of God college offers bachelor's-level church ministry programs that pair classroom study with discipleship groups and required church internships, and it marks its 100th anniversary in 2026.
