History
Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park protects the birthplace, boyhood home, ranch, and grave of the 36th U.S. president, split between sites in Johnson City and Stonewall in the Texas Hill Country. The Johnson City unit centers on the 1880s Victorian boyhood home, where the family moved in September 1913 when Lyndon was five and lived for 24 years; Johnson restored the house while president and it was named a National Historic Landmark in 1965. The unit also includes the Johnson Settlement, an interpretive center on the surrounding pioneer ranching community.
