Texas A&M University–Texarkana is a public college or university in Texarkana, Bowie County.

A&M–Texarkana opened in 1971 with 323 students as the East Texas State University Center at Texarkana, an upper-level branch of East Texas State University in Commerce created to offer junior- and senior-year courses to an isolated corner of the state. For its first decades it shared space with Texarkana College, and it earned its own accreditation in 1980. When East Texas State entered the Texas A&M University System in the mid-1990s, the Texarkana center became a separate university in the system under the name Texas A&M University–Texarkana. In 2010 it began admitting freshmen and sophomores as a full four-year university and moved to a new campus of its own beside Bringle Lake. State funding in the late 2010s paid for new buildings and programs, and in 2019 the history department founded the Red River Center for Regional History and Culture to preserve the story of the four-state region. Today the university draws students from Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Louisiana, is moving its Eagles athletics into NCAA Division II, and in 2026 adopted a refreshed 'A&M Texarkana' brand ahead of launching football in 2027.
