History

Cedar Lake Cemetery lies in far southwestern Brazoria County near Cedar Lake, a small teardrop-shaped lake close to the Matagorda County line about nineteen miles east of Angleton. The surrounding Cedar Lake locality took its name from the cedar brake around the lake and remained a sparsely settled farming and ranching area; before the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway was cut through in 1948, the lake was fed by Cedar Lake Creek and the San Bernard River and drained toward the Gulf.
