History
This 1,379-foot truss bridge, also called the Inks Lake Bridge, spans the Colorado River between Buchanan Dam and Inks Lake on the Burnet-Llano county line. Planned by the Texas Highway Department in 1929, it was completed in 1937 by the Austin Bridge Company for about $188,000 and consists of four 200-foot Parker through-truss spans with I-beam approaches. It was bypassed by a new bridge in 2003 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.
