History

Now often called the Luling Oil Museum, the Central Texas Oil Patch Museum was started by volunteers in the 1980s to preserve the history of the 1922 Luling oil discovery. Housed in the restored 1885 Walker Bros. mercantile building downtown, it features a full-scale two-story replica wooden derrick with life-sized roughneck figures, sound effects, and drilling and production equipment from the 1920s field.
