History

Hard Shell Cemetery is recorded among Caldwell County's historically African American burial grounds in the Plum Creek Almanac Project's survey of the county's Black cemeteries. Located in the eastern part of the county toward Luling, it served a rural African American community in the countryside between Lockhart and the San Marcos River.
