Pedro Zepeda purchased the surrounding land in 1874 and established the family ranch and burial ground, which the Zepeda family still owns. Its roughly 117 graves date from 1872 onward, including a white above-ground vault ("boveda") holding Pedro Zepeda Sr. (d. 1903) and his wife Luisa.
