History

Fitch Cemetery sits about half a mile southeast of the old Blackjack schoolhouse in northeastern Cherokee County and holds graves dating to the mid-1800s. It is the resting place of several of the area's pioneer families, including the Fitch, Dickey, Fisher, Duty, and Clayton families, and some of the earliest graves are marked only with native fieldstone. The cemetery was catalogued in 1970 by Ogreta and Jan Huttash.
