History

Miles Cemetery sits about four miles southwest of Jacksonville off FM 747, reached by an unpaved lane on County Road 3111. The roughly hundred-yard-square plot, fenced within a cattle pasture, holds graves dating to the 1800s from families including the Arnold, Ferguson, Hicks, and Miles families, though many graves are unmarked or bear broken stones. It was surveyed in 1996.
