History
The Interurban Railway Museum occupies Plano's Mission/Spanish Revival interurban station at 901 East 15th Street, completed in 1908 for the opening of the Texas Electric Railway, which ran electric cars from Denison to Waco until 1948. The City of Plano renovated the vacant station into a museum in 1990, opening it to the public on June 17, 1991. Since 2001 the Plano Conservancy for Historic Preservation has operated it with free admission and interactive exhibits on electricity, science, and local railway history.
