History
Empire College served the vanished Empire community of eastern Collin County, which in the late 1800s had a school, post office, churches, stores, and a cotton gin. The college hosted the local Masonic lodge, Empire Lodge No. 586, chartered after 25 Master Masons petitioned in 1884, and several charter members were also subscribers to the school. The Texas Historical Commission marked the site in 2009; Bear Creek Cemetery is the community's only other remnant.
