History

Plymouth Cemetery marks the site of the vanished farming community of Plymouth, west of Samnorwood in Collingsworth County. It began about 1907 alongside the Baptist congregation built half a mile south of the Plymouth schoolhouse, a church first called Lake Creek Baptist and renamed Plymouth Missionary Baptist in 1922. The community faded through the mid-1900s until, by the 1980s, the cemetery was nearly all that remained.
