History

The Museum of Texas Handmade Furniture, operated by the Heritage Society of New Braunfels, occupies 11 wooded acres around the 1858 Breustedt-Dillen House. It preserves 19th-century German-Texan furniture, including pieces by master cabinetmakers Heinrich Scholl Jr. and Johann Michael Jahn in the "Texas Biedermeier" style developed by immigrant craftsmen on the frontier. The limestone Breustedt-Dillen House was relocated and reconstructed to prevent its demolition.
