History

The Stephen Klein Home in New Braunfels was built in 1846 by Stephen Klein, a Prussian-born carpenter who was among the town's first settlers and served as one of Comal County's first commissioners. The house employs traditional fachwerk (half-timber) construction with an infill of rubble and cut limestone between the timber frame. It was purchased by Edward Naegelin Sr. in 1868 and designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1967.
