History
Also known as Wenzel Cemetery, St. Joseph's Cemetery in southern Comal County dates to 1884, when German immigrant and early New Braunfels settler Ignaz Wenzel was buried on his own land at his request. His widow, Anna Maria Friesenhahn Wenzel, donated an acre around the grave to the Catholic Bishop of San Antonio, and the burial ground was later enlarged. Long tended by St. Joseph's Catholic Church, it is now cared for by Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church of New Braunfels.
