History

The Historic Comanche Depot is a red brick passenger station built in 1909 by the St. Louis and San Francisco (Frisco) Railway Company, measuring about 22 by 74 feet with projecting bays and modest Prairie School detailing. It served as Comanche's passenger train station until roughly 1969 and is the only remaining rail-related building in the town. The Friends of Historic Comanche led a 2011 rehabilitation that restored the exterior to its original appearance, and the depot now houses Chamber of Commerce offices and a small museum, significant for its more than half-century role in the town's transportation history.
