History
The Coryell Museum and Historical Center in Gatesville houses what is billed as the world's largest spur collection, with roughly 6,000 pairs on display largely donated by collector Lloyd Mitchell, prompting the Texas Legislature to designate Gatesville the "Spur Capital of Texas." Spread over some 24,450 square feet across two floors, the museum also displays Native American arrowheads, antique tools, and thousands of regional artifacts, including spurs said to have belonged to Pancho Villa.
