History
John Creed Moore (1824-1910) was a West Point graduate and Confederate brigadier general commended for gallantry at Shiloh who also led troops at Corinth, Vicksburg, Chattanooga, and Mobile. After the Civil War he became a Texas educator, teaching and serving as a school superintendent in several communities, and he is buried at Osage in Coryell County. A marker commemorating him stands at Crawford.
