History
Emanuel Lutheran Church at 4311 San Jacinto Avenue traces its congregation to 1906, when Swedish immigrants organized the Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Immanuel Church under Rev. Theodore Seashore. The present brick church, an example of Late Gothic Revival design with light cast-stone detailing, pointed-arch openings and buttresses, was dedicated in September 1931. It was added to the National Register in 1995 and today also houses the Emanuel Community Center.
