History

First Presbyterian Church of Mesquite was organized in 1881 as the Mesquite Presbyterian Church by fifteen area residents, who first worshiped in a home under the circuit-riding preacher Rev. George L. Blewett. The congregation completed its first sanctuary in 1885 and took the name First Presbyterian Church of Mesquite in 1927. A Texas Historical Commission marker was placed in 2009.
