History
Organized in 1967 by the Deaf Smith County Historical Society, this Hereford museum occupies a red-brick building originally built by the Catholic church as its first school, just north of the county courthouse. Its exhibits follow the theme 'How our Pioneers Lived, Worked and Played,' with Panhandle pioneer artifacts and Native American relics. The grounds include a small train engine, a wooden windmill, a wagon barn, and the Victorian 1909 E.B. Black House, operated as a house museum.
