History

The Delta County Courthouse in Cooper was built in 1940–1941 as a Works Progress Administration project, replacing a brick courthouse completed in 1900. Designed by Dallas architect Hook Smith in a Modern Movement/Art Deco style, the three-story building cost $110,450 and has remained virtually unchanged since. The county's first courthouse dated to 1873.
