History

Boydstun (Boydston) Cemetery marks the old farming community of Boydston, established when Illinois native Henry S. Boydstun moved his family here in 1890. The cemetery began that same year with the burial of a three-day-old infant, and Boydstun deeded two acres for a public burial ground in 1898. A misspelling of the family name in postal records gave the community and its 1891–1940 post office the 'Boydston' spelling, and the cemetery is essentially all that remains of the town.
