History

The Austin McCloud Appellate Court Museum in Eastland interprets the history of Eastland County's courts and the Eleventh Court of Appeals, which sits in the city. Located across from the courthouse, it displays antique legal documents, photographs, and courtroom memorabilia and preserves a restored second-floor courtroom. The museum is named for retired Chief Justice Austin McCloud, who served as a judge for more than forty years, nearly twenty-five of them as chief justice of the Eleventh Court of Appeals.
