History

Colony Cemetery lies on FM 101 east of Morton Valley in northern Eastland County. Morton Valley was settled in the 1880s and expanded during the oil boom of 1917-25, becoming a consolidated school center for three surrounding districts in 1921. The cemetery is among the historic burial grounds documented for the Morton Valley area.
