History
John Marr Hardeman was a pioneer settler near Italy in Ellis County and a veteran of the Army of Texas in 1836. A family cemetery on his former farm lies in pasture land west of Italy. He is remembered with one of Ellis County's Centennial markers placed by the State of Texas in 1936 to honor early figures of the Texas Revolution.
