History

The W. K. Gordon Center for Industrial History of Texas is a Tarleton State University museum and research center at the site of the Thurber ghost town near Mingus. Its interactive exhibits trace the birth and death of a company town wholly owned by the Texas and Pacific Coal Company, which ran the coal mines, brick kilns, and nearby oil fields. The center's archives hold Texas and Pacific business records from roughly 1920 to 1940 and a large collection of historic Thurber photographs.
