History
William H. Pate (1813-1879), born in Georgia, arrived in Texas in January 1836 and fought at the Battle of San Jacinto in Captain Benjamin F. Bryant's company before being discharged for disability. For his service he received donation and bounty land certificates. He died at Victor in Erath County in 1879 as a member of the Texas Veterans Association.
