History

This late-Victorian house in Ladonia was built in 1894 by craftsmen Martin and Krause for J.B. Haden (born 1859 near Springfield, Missouri), an affluent merchant and one of the town's leading citizens. Constructed of cypress with ornate gingerbread trim, it long served as the showplace of Ladonia and remained in the Haden family until 1963. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980 and is a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark.
