History
The Henry G. and Annie B. Green House stands in Kendleton, one of Texas's oldest freedmen's towns, founded by formerly enslaved people after the Civil War in Fort Bend County. Dating to about 1870, the house remained in the Green family into the 1990s; Annie Boyd Green was a nurse versed in African American folk medicine, and archaeologists studying the site examined domestic traditions such as yard sweeping. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
