History

The Winnsboro Historical Museum occupies the town's old railroad depot at 100 East Broadway. The first depot was built in 1878 of wood; after fire destroyed it in 1907, the Katy (Missouri-Kansas-Texas) system rebuilt it in 1908 in a stucco-and-wood form. In the early 1900s three passenger trains stopped in Winnsboro daily, and the museum's exhibits bring the town's local history to life for visitors.
