History

Keith Cemetery, named for the many members of the Keith family buried there, sits about two miles northwest of the Hagansport community and is regarded as the oldest cemetery in the northern part of Franklin County. The Keith family were early figures in the area's development; William S. Keith was appointed postmaster of nearby Mount Vernon in 1848. The old burial ground has long been neglected and remains in poor condition.
