History
Tennessee native Dan Cobb was a builder who designed and constructed the first Gaines County Courthouse in 1906 and its 1922 replacement, as well as the First Baptist Church sanctuary, a schoolhouse and other early county structures. He and his wife Aurelia built their family home on this site in 1906 for their six children. A charter member of the First Baptist Church and the local school board, Cobb was central to Seminole's early growth, and the Texas Historical Commission placed the marker in 1982.
