History
Owned by the City of Dickinson, the Dickinson Historic Railroad Center comprises the Dickinson and League City railroad depots and their surrounding grounds. The original Dickinson depot dated to 1859 but burned in 1900; the current brick depot, with a fireplace, half-moon doors, and a track-facing bay window, was designed by Galveston architect George B. Stowe and built in 1902 along the pioneering G.H.&H. line. Donated to a garden club in the late 1960s and later to the city, the restored depots now serve as a museum, visitor center, and home of the Dickinson Historical Society.
