History
The Texas Surf Museum opened in 2005 in downtown Corpus Christi to chronicle the overlooked surfing culture of the Texas Gulf Coast, displaying vintage surfboards and historical surf memorabilia in a former surf shop associated with champion Pat Magee. It shares its downtown setting with the South Texas Music Walk of Fame, established in 2004 to honor South Texas musicians across genres from Tejano to rock, country, and jazz, with Freddy Fender as its first inductee. Handmade ceramic tile stars circle the Water Street Market, and new honorees are added each June.
