History

Grace Memorial Park, now known as Hayes Grace Memorial Park, was established in 1954 near Hitchcock in Galveston County by Wayne Stafford and his wife, who named it in honor of Grace Stafford. Managed and later owned by the Istre family from 1961 onward, it grew to include thirteen gardens, a committal chapel, mausoleum and crematory before the Hayes family of Santa Fe acquired and renamed it in 2003. It is a perpetual-care cemetery.
