History
This family cemetery near Luckenbach is the resting place of German Hill Country pioneer Jacob (Jakob) Brodbeck (1821-1910), a schoolteacher and inventor. Brodbeck is remembered for a claimed 1865 flight of a spring-powered 'airship' in a field near Luckenbach, supposedly decades before the Wright brothers, though no plans of the craft survive and the account remains disputed. He was buried in the family cemetery upon his death in 1910.
