History

Built in 1906-1907 in the Renaissance Revival style, this three-story limestone federal building was designed by the U.S. Treasury's Office of the Supervising Architect under James Knox Taylor. It housed Sherman's post office on the first floor until 1962 and has served continuously as a federal courthouse for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. Listed on the National Register in 2000, it was renamed the Paul Brown Federal Building and United States Courthouse in 2014.
