History

The Gregg County Historical Museum opened in 1984 in Longview's Everett Building, a 1910 Classical Revival structure originally built for Citizens National Bank and noted for its pink granite columns and pressed-tin ceiling. Abandoned by mid-century, the building was purchased and donated in 1979 by Longview resident Ann Lacy Crain to the Gregg County Historical Foundation. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and as a Texas Historic Landmark.
