History

Samuel Millett, born in Maine in 1799, was a veteran of the Battle of San Jacinto, serving in Capt. Moseley Baker's San Felipe company during the 1836 fight for Texas independence. For his service he received a donation certificate for 640 acres of land. He later settled in Seguin, where he died and was buried in the city's Riverside Cemetery.
